  2.  #28-34 The priest who offered, was to have the breast and the
  3.  right shoulder. When the sacrifice was killed, the offerer
  4.  himself must present God's part of it; that he might signify his
  5.  cheerfully giving it up to God. He was with his own hands to
  6.  lift it up, in token of his regard to God as the God of heaven;
  7.  and then to wave it to and fro, in token of his regard to God as
  8.  the Lord of the whole earth. Be persuaded and encouraged to feed
  9.  and feast upon Christ, our Peace-offering. This blessed
  10.  Peace-offering is not for the priests only, for saints of the
  11.  highest rank and greatest eminence, but for the common people
  12.  also. Take heed of delay. Many think to repent and return to God
  13.  when they are dying and dropping into hell; but they should eat
  14.  the peace-offering, and eat it now. Stay not till the day of the
  15.  Lord's patience be run out, for eating the third day will not be
  16.  accepted, nor will catching at Christ when thou art gone to
  17.  hell!

  20.  #35-38 Solemn acts of religious worship are not things which we
  21.  may do or not do at our pleasure; it is at our peril if we omit
  22.  them. An observance of the laws of Christ cannot be less
  23.  necessary than of the laws of Moses.

  25.  * The consecration of Aaron and his sons. (1-13) The offerings
  26.  of consecration. (14-36)

  28.  #1-13 The consecration of Aaron and his sons had been delayed
  29.  until the tabernacle had been prepared, and the laws of the
  30.  sacrifices given. Aaron and his sons were washed with water, to
  31.  signify that they ought to purify themselves from all sinful
  32.  dispositions, and ever after to keep themselves pure. Christ
  33.  washes those from their sins in his own blood whom he makes
  34.  kings and priests to our God, #Re 1:5,6|; and those that draw
  35.  near to God must be washed in pure water, #Heb 10:22|. The
  36.  anointing of Aaron was to typify the anointing of Christ with
  37.  the Spirit, which was not given by measure to him. All believers
  38.  have received the anointing.

  41.  #14-36 In these types we see our great High Priest, even Christ
  42.  Jesus, solemnly appointed, anointed, and invested with his
  43.  sacred office, by his own blood, and the influences of his Holy
  44.  Spirit. He sanctifies the ordinances of religion, to the benefit
  45.  of his people and the honour of God the Father; who for his sake
  46.  accepts our worship, though it is polluted with sin. We may also
  47.  rejoice, that he is a merciful and faithful High Priest, full of
  48.  compassion to the feeble-minded and tempest-tossed soul. All
  49.  true Christians are consecrated to be spiritual priests. We
  50.  should seriously ask ourselves, whether in our daily walk we
  51.  study to maintain this character? and abound in spiritual
  52.  sacrifices, acceptable to God through Christ? If so, still there
  53.  is no cause for boasting. Let us not despise our fellow-sinners;
  54.  but remembering what we have done, and how we are saved, let us
  55.  seek and pray for their salvation.
